How can I get to Glasgow airport?
By Car
The M8 Motorway via Junction 28 gives easy access to and
from the airport. The airport is about 20 minutes drive from Glasgow
City Centre and about two minutes from Paisley, the nearest town.
You can drop off passengers outside the terminal building, but if
you want to see them off please use one of the car parks.
National Cycle Track
Glasgow Airport is the first airport in Scotland to be linked
to the National Cycle Network. The route travels from the airport
through Paisley to link with National Route 7 (Inverness to Carlisle)
and National Route 75 (Leith to Gourock) which cross in Paisley.
Covered, lockable cycle lockers are available in Car Park 1 at
the airport and lockers/stands are available at several locations
in Paisley.
By Taxi
Airport taxis are available 24 hours a day to any destination
and any distance. Taxi drivers are obliged to meter the entire journey
and publish their scale of charges. Longer distance journey prices
may be negotiated with the driver.
The taxi rank is located at the front of the terminal building,
a short walk from UK arrivals. Assistance from the taxi management
company and a list of charges is available at the taxi booking office
next to the taxi rank. Telephone Cab Fly, the taxi management company,
on +44 (0)141 848 4588.
With the exception of pre-booked hires, all taxis must pick up
from the designated taxi rank and must hold a Glasgow Airport permit.
All drivers will provide courteous service and agree to undertake
short journeys.
If you have any reason for complaint, quote the driver's permit
taxi plate or vehicle registration number to the airport duty manager
as soon as possible.
By Train
Paisley's Gilmour Street railway station is the nearest to
the airport. Just two miles from the terminal, it can be reached
by taxi or by the regular bus services outlined above. There are
direct rail services from Paisley Gilmour Street to Glasgow Central,
Ayr and Clyde Coast destinations. There are eight trains per hour
(Monday-Saturday) and five per hour (Sunday) from Gilmour Street
to Glasgow Central. If you need to transfer from Central station
to either Queen Street station or Buchanan bus station, you can
use bus service 398 which runs every 10 minutes between 0700 and
2200 Monday to Saturday and 1000 and 2200 Sunday. This service is
free on production of a valid rail ticket, or 50p to other users.
Through rail tickets from Glasgow Airport to Glasgow Central station,
via Paisley Gilmour Street station, can be purchased from the SPT
Travel Centre on the ground floor of the terminal building, adjacent
to UK arrivals. For travel to any other station, the ticket should
be surrendered at the Gilmour Street booking office and you will
obtain a discount equal to the value of the bus ticket from the
cost of a rail ticket to any station in Scotland.
When travelling to the airport from any station in Scotland, you
simply ask for a rail ticket to Glasgow Airport and this is then
valid on the train to Paisley Gilmour Street and the Arriva bus
service from Paisley to the airport.
